Getting Started With GradCornwall

Getting Started With GradCornwall

Once you have completed the registration form you will have an account set up, enabling you to advertise vacancies on GradCornwall. You will also have the option to create an Employer Profile which offers you the opportunity to place your business and website link on the Interactive Map so that potential employees, academics and other website visitors can find out more about your organisation – like an online directory of business in Cornwall.

How to advertise a vacancy

To place a job advert, you must first complete the registration form for GradCornwall.  Once you have completed this you will be sent an email to verify your account.  Once your account has been verified, you will be given a log in and be able to place adverts on GradCornwall.

Once you’re registered, to place an advert simply click on ‘Advertise a vacancy’ in the left hand menu and complete the fields (you can copy and paste text) and when you are sure your advert is how you want it, click on the ‘Create advert’ field and your advert will be sent for administrator approval. Once your advert is approved we will make it live on the website.  We aim to do this within 12 hours on a normal weekday.

Paying for my advert

If, when you have placed your advert, you require any additional services (e.g. text message marketing or e-shots etc.) we will ask you to check out and pay through PayPal.  You will need to have a PayPal account set up or be able to use a credit/debit card to do this. Once your payment has cleared, your additional requirements will normally be dealt with within 24 hours of payment.

How do I view my applications

When you receive an application, you will be sent an email to inform you. You can then log into GradCornwall. You’ll be able to view your applications online by logging in and visiting your dashboard, clicking on ‘download CV and covering letter’ which will open the file.  You will then be able to save this file onto your computer.

You will also be able to click on ‘View Profile’ which is next to each application letter and CV.  This profile has been created by the graduate when they registered with GradCornwall and summarises their skills and experience (a bit like an online CV).  Graduates who are registered with us also have a dashboard where they will be able to check on the progress of their application with you.  Please click on ‘Update status’ when you view their profile in order to confirm where you are in the application process.  You can then select from the following options:

  • CV on file for other posts
  • Interview pending
  • Job Offer
  • Not for this post
  • Withdrawn (candidate or GradCornwall will activate this)

Shortlisting

Our graduates’ dashboards are designed to show them how their application is progressing with you.  Please select where you are generically in the recruitment process and click on ‘View profile’ to update their status.  The default status for all applications is ‘Application Received’ of ‘Shortlisting’ after the closing date has passed.  You can also choose ‘Shortlisting’, ‘Job withdrawn’ and ‘Job filled’.

What is a Graduate Profile?

  • Graduates register with GradCornwall and create online profiles.  You are able to view these when you have received an application from a graduate. The profiles may help you decide which graduates you want to shortlist.
  • You can keep candidates informed individually, on the progress of their application with your organisation.  For example, if you feel that a graduate is not suitable for the role they have applied for but would be suitable for another position within your organisation you can let them know by selecting the ‘CV on file for other posts’ option from the drop down menu at the top of their profile.  This will update the application status on their personal dashboard so they are informed.
  • If you don’t want to advertise a vacancy you can pay to browse through all these profiles and find out more about graduates seeking work in the county. You can get in touch with them via the website and if the graduates are interested to hear more from you, we will pass you their contact details. Simply select this service and pay through PayPal to be able to select a graduate category and view profiles for a period of time.

Getting in touch with the applicants

If you decide you want to get in touch with an applicant, select the ‘Email candidate’ option that’s next to their name. A text box will appear and should you wish, you can use this box for any correspondence e.g. confirming an interview with them. We will email them via the email address registered against their profile.

Frequently asked questions

I’m advertising for a recruitment agency. How will GradCornwall work for me?

As a recruitment consultancy, we recognise you need unlimited advertising and that you may want to hide the names of your clients from your competitors.  In signing up to GradCornwall, you can take advantage of advertising to our database of quality candidates and advertise unlimited vacancies.

Why isn’t my advert showing yet?

We check every advert submitted by clients onto GradCornwall in order to ensure it isn’t discriminatory and complies with recruitment legislation.  This is part of our service to you.  Usually, we aim to have an advert live on the website within 12 hours from the time it was created (during week days only). However, this can sometimes be a little longer.  Please feel free to contact us if you would like a clearer idea of when your advert will go live.  We may sometimes edit your advert to ensure it is legally compliant but we’ll contact you before undertaking any significant adjustments.
