We know that now students are each paying up to £9,000 per year for their university course fees, that their likelihood of getting a job after their studies is going to be a keen priority for them. When there are hundreds of graduates out there all applying for the same jobs as you are, how do you stand out from the crowd and come out on top?
Unlocking Potential (UP) helps support many graduates into graduate level roles in Cornwall. We see the graduates’ job applications and their performances in interviews and we see what works and what doesn’t work. As a result, UP has worked closely alongside graduate employers and Cornwall College to develop the ‘Stand Out from the Crowd’ Employability programme. This 20 credit level 5 HE module (accredited by Plymouth University) and endorsed by Deloitte (a key national player in the Employability agenda) is a 10 day long intensive programme which aims to increase graduates’ confidence, gain a better understanding of themselves and what they can offer employees and develop the core job hunting success skills they will need for securing a position. Graduates taking part benefit from hearing from Graduate Employers about what they look for when recruiting graduates and sharing their hints and tips This course is free of charge (subject to eligibility criteria)* for graduates to attend and is held all over the county in venues which introduce graduates to different working environments.
We are regularly invited to visit groups of students as they undertake their HE courses to give them brief, 1 hour sessions on:
